Read and annotate your PDFs in Papers 3 for iOS

This tutorial will walk you through how to annotate and take notes on your iOS device. You can either highlight, underline or strikethrough your papers, or create free-hand annotations. In addition you can add yellow sticky notes to your PDFs.

Papers 3 for iOS introduces a new continuous annotation mode:

  • Tap on a paper in your library to open it in the PDF reader mode. Tap on a PDF so that the menu bar appears on the top of the screen. Tap on the annotation icon so that the other menu items are greyed out. You are now in the annotation mode and any text that you select with your finger is annotated. By default the annotation mode is set to highlight with yellow colour. To change the highlight colour, or to switch to underline or strikethrough modes hold down on the annotation icon and select a different colour, or tap on the underline or strikethrough icons. To exit the annotation mode, tap on the annotation icon again.
